Student Clinics

ARH members across the country organise student clinics for the benefit of those studying homeopathy. Here is a selection of such clinics, along with contact details for each one.

Homoeopathy for All (HfA) is a group of experienced professional homoeopaths in Herefordshire, who for the past 2 years have been offering homoeopathic treatment free of charge via community organisations in the city. HfA currently works regularly with Herefordshire Women’s Aid (working with victims of domestic violence and abuse); Herefordshire MIND (the local branch of the mental health charity) and DASH (Herefordshire’s drug user support service). We are currently going through process of becoming an official charity to make it easier to source funding.

We can offer one student place at each clinic session. Students will not be taking cases but will have the opportunity to gain experience of clinical work rarely encountered in standard private practice. Sessions cost £15. Any student wishing to take up a place should call (01432) 360988. All clinics are in the centre of Hereford, and easily accessible by car, train or bus.

Eleana Needham, www.thehealingpond.com, is a graduate of the Lakeland College of Homeopathy and runs student clinics in Banstead, Surrey (near Epsom, Sutton and Reigate). "The clinic runs on the first and third Friday of every month 10am- 4.30pm (with a lunch break) for up to five students who meet to explore case taking, analysis, follow-ups, prescriptions, paper cases and graduation cases. I offer students access to a full dispensing service, including an extensive homeopathic pharmacy, an eclectic collection of herbal tinctures and tissue salts, more than ten different systems of flower/vibrational remedies and also nutritional support (nutritional supplements can be obtained at a discount)."

Students fee: £35 - free car parking and refreshments provided - a lending reference library and copying facilities are also available.

Patient Fees: £25 first adult consultation and £15 thereafter; £20 first child consultation and £10 thereafter. If patients book and attend six consultations they get the last one free.

" I expect students to attend regularly in order to get the benefit of continuity and to accrue their clinic points. I encourage them to bring their own patients and to be inquisitive, inventive and original in their approach to case taking, analysis and treatment. Above all I encourage a 'holistic student approach' and place great emphasis on each individual student's personal journey."

Please contact Eleana on 01737 352351 or email eleana@thehealingpond.com putting "student clinics" in the subject line.

Lesley Wilkinson has been running students clinics since 2003 from South Croydon, Surrey. Lesley graduated from CPH in 1994 and has a busy practice in South Croydon. This is easily accessible by train, 20 minutes from Victoria (nearest stations are Sanderstead or Purley Oaks):

"The clinics run twice a month on a Friday, 9am - 3pm. Cost is £35 per day, with a commitment to attend for six monthly sessions. Refreshments are provided. Contact me on 0208 657 8698 or info@lesleywilkinson.co.uk for further information."

Marigold Short is a member of a team of homeopaths working at a Low Cost Clinic in Bakewell, Derbyshire. The clinic is able to offer one student place at each clinic session. Each place costs £10 which goes towards running the clinic. The duty homeopath will give 1/2 hour or so after each session to discuss case management. Any more time would need to be arranged with the homeopath privately. Students will not be taking cases unless the duty homeopath is a registered supervisor and is happy for them to do so. Any student wishing to take up a place should call 01629 814815. The clinic runs from: The Bakewell Natural Therapy Rooms, Ferndale House, Buxton Road, Derbyshire, DE45 1DA.

Magdalena Whitehouse runs her clinic at 78 High Street, Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex.

"This clinic is an opportunity for students to sit in with live cases, taken by myself. Each case is followed by a teaching discussion session leading to choice of prescription, which is made ultimately by myself. Together we shall study:

  • What is to be cured
  • Methods of analysis
  • Careful rubric selection
  • Comparative materia Medica
As we follow the patient through follow up appointments we shall be looking at case taking techniques and case management. If a student brings their own patient, they are entitled to a free clinic." Magdalena has been running a homeopathic practice and been involved in teaching and supervision of students for 10 years. Originally qualified from London College of Homoeopathy, she has recently completed further studies with Jeremy Sherr at Dynamis, and now holds the qualification Practitioner of Classical Homoeopathy (PCH). Her student clinic runs from 2pm - 7pm, bi-monthly. Student charge £15; Patients £30.

For more details, contact Magdalena Whitehouse on 01273 832060 or email magdalena@netbreeze.co.uk.

Heather Conway runs a low cost clinic in Dawlish, Devon. Students 'observe', with chance to briefly discuss the cases after each patient, or at end of session.  The clinics are on the first Wednesday of each month.

Contact Heather on a2zhomeopathy@yahoo.co.uk. or  Tel: 01626 779054

Grace DaSilva-Hill runs a student clinics in Thornton Heath, Surrey (just 18 minutes from Victoria and 10 minutes from Clapham Junction).

"Both clinics are on a Saturday, roughly every two weeks. The first clinic has been running since 1999 and is well established; the second clinic started in September 2005.

Each clinic has five students, and we all sit in with the patient, with one homeopath taking the case, either a student or myself. We then discuss the case, decide on appropriate management and a prescription, and this is posted to the patient. These clinics have proved to give valuable practical homeopathic experience and have been well evaluated.

We have free car parking at the clinics. The student fee is £35 per clinic and there is an expectation that students will attend regularly. The hours are from 9.30am till 13.30; refreshments are provided. Students are welcome to bring their own patients."

Contact Grace on 020 8683 2806 or by email: gracehomeopath@aol.com.

Jo Ketteman and Friend of ARH Linda Lloyd MLCHom jointly supervise a student clinic in Chesham, Buckinghamshire:

"The clinic takes place one Thursday a month, from 10am to 2.30 pm. The fee per student is £35.00. All students are welcome. The opportunity is to bring your own clients, take the case and undertake the necessary follow-up actions, with our support. You can also bring paper cases and observe other students. It's a great chance to learn and ask questions in a small, friendly, caring group."

If you'd like to know more, please contact Jo on 01494 784364 or Linda on 01494 785761 or linda@homeopathyresource.com.
